One of my fond childhood memories was visiting my great grandmother. It never failed that when we went to her house we always had a chance to bake a pie. This was one that we all enjoyed!
Concord Grape Pie:
Slip skins from the 4 cups of grapes. Set those skins aside and bring the pulp to a boil. Remove from heat and simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes. Make sure to seive to remove the seeds. Add skins.
Next mix 1 c sugar, 1/4 t salt, and 1/3 c all purpose flour. Then add 1 T lemon juice, 2 T butter; melted and finally the grape mixture.
Pour into a 9" unbaked pie crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
While you are waiting...
Sift together 1/2 c flour and 1/2 c sugar. Cut in 1/4 c butter until crumbly. Place on top of the pie and bake an additional 15 minutes more.
Hope you enjoy it! Thanks to my mom for the recipe!
